An excellent field gathered for the final mixed event of the year, The Hunter Guide Dog Trophy, played on the Gainsborough course on a dry, bright but somewhat chilly day.
With the first few groups already in the clubhouse, enjoying a post round drink, rapturous applause broke out when Sarah Atherton entered, having scored her first hole in one on the 11th hole. The bell was rung and everyone present enjoyed a celebratory drink with Sarah and husband Graham.
Lying in first place with 38 points and one more group to finish, it was looking like a great day out for the Atherton’s, unfortunately for them, a great round from Barbara Rowe and Gary Borthwick with 41 points saw them demoted to 2nd place.
Unfortunately David Hunter was unable to be with us, but in his absence, Ladies Vice Captain Jill Pottle passed round a collection for David’s Charity, Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Thanks go to all those who participated.
