The Easter weekend saw a vast improvement in the weather, with both courses beginning to dry out and the green keepers hard work on the greens eventually starting to pay dividends.
Good Friday saw a field of 111 players take part in the Standard Trophy, played on the Gainsborough course. The winner on countback with a score of 38 points was Kevin Day. Second also on 38 points was early club house leader Ian Phillips, with Mark Clark third on 37 points and Kevin Hitchman fourth with 36 points on countback from Byron Long and Keith Hodgson.
The Peter Blewitt Trophy mixed competition, took place on the Gainsborough course on Bank Holiday Monday in beautiful bright sunshine.
Sixteen pairs competed for the Trophy, which was eventually won by Tim and Tracey Dickens with a score of 39 points. Second on countback were Nigel and Mandy Byham with 37 points and third also on 37 points were Men’s Captain (now apparently known as the Raining captain) Norman and Elaine Davidson.
