As if this game of golf was not hard enough, every year we play a format when most of our clubs are left at home.
But deciding which to take and which to leave is always the subject of much curiosity on the first tee. And watching fellow players trying to get out of a greenside bunker with an 8 iron is always an enjoyable spectacle.
This time it was the turn of the Seniors at their annual 3 Clubs and a Putter competition – a singles Stableford on the Gainsborough Course.
Scoring was inevitably more modest than usual but there were a few players who still managed to get into the 30s – especially Martin Brown who won Division 1 with 35 points and Bill Wardle who won Division 2 with 33 points. Special mention to Mark Clark, playing off a handicap of -1 who managed to score 32 points.
As the overall winner, Martin will also collect the trophy at the Seniors annual meeting later in the year – Congratulations Martin!
