A total of 80 players contested the Stoke by Nayland Ladies Open this week, making it a very successful event for the club.
The playing conditions were perfect, with only a few grumbles afterwards about the slow pace of the greens!
The day was organised by Diana Harris and her team of helpers and, together, they did a grand job in giving our visitors a memorable day.
Our famous halfway hut offerings were very well received by the participants. Thanks must go to Janet Hodge and her team of bakers who provided all the delicious goodies and kept the ladies fed and watered.
After their golf the Ladies had a pre-lunch glass of Pimms on the Devora terrace. This was followed by a two course carvery.
Resort owner, Susanna Rendall, then gave a welcome speech in which she provided an interesting insight to the visiting ladies about the self-sustainability of the resort.
Ladies Captain, Jill Pottle, was on hand afterwards to present all the winners with their prizes.
The winning team only had a relatively short journey from Stowmarket but we also had ladies visiting us from as far afield as Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Kent.
A raffle was also held which raised £158 for the Ladies Captain’s Charity, Parkinson’s UK.
It was a very enjoyable day for all who attended and lots of the ladies said they are already reserving the date in their diaries to be ready to visit us again next year!
