Playing their second of four Harris Bowl league matches, Stoke Ladies made full use of home advantage against Wanstead.

The format is singles matchplay off full handicap.

The lake on Constable 18 played its part, helping Sue Gregory and Jill Pottle secure their wins. That lake looks daunting, even when you’re used to it, but for a couple of the tired Wanstead ladies worn out by Constable course’s hills, it was too much.

We won the match overall 4.5 to 0.5, which was an impressive win and has boosted the team after their first match loss.

Barby Jones won her game 4 and 3 early on, but the other matches went to the wire, with one won on the 17th and the other three going to the 18th.

The team consisted of Bev Ellender, Melissa Halfhide, Sue Gregory (team captain), Jill Pottle (Ladies Captain) and Barby Jones, and thanks to our caddies and supporters too.

The next two matches are in June, one at home and one away at The Warren.
