On the eight anniversary of the competition being inaugurated, 105 players played in the Dick Chalmers Shield (in memory of Dick a long term member of Stoke) on the Gainsborough course.

The competition annually pits the many swindles across the club against each other including the Ladies, Seniors, Sunday Swindle, The Bandits, Past Captain’s, Barely Swinging, Tax Man and a group of friends and family of Dick from far and wide.

The sponsor of the event, Berners Dental Practice, supplied coffee and bacon rolls plus snack bags and water for all the players.

There was a huge amount of fun and laughter from the players, something Dick would have loved when he was a member at SBN.

The atmosphere in the clubhouse before and after golf reminds all of the members what a warm and friendly club we have and everyone takes this day to have a laugh and remember Dick fondly.

The leading man was Mike Webb with a score of 44, leading lady was Bev Thompson with 45, and Best Friend or Family was Troy Blowers with 40.

The winning team was the Tax Man Swindle (TMS) with a score average of 34.25, taking the Shield and the glory.

On the day, we raised in excess of £750 for Prostate Cancer from the members and friends, who were generous as ever.
