There was a fiesta on the fairways when Ladies Captain Jill Pottle held her Captain’s Day event.

With a theme of Carnival/Mardi Gras, a total of 44 Ladies turned out to help Jill celebrate, turning out in a wide ranging choice of brightly coloured outfits.

The day began with the traditional buggy ride where the Ladies Captain was brought to her waiting Ladies by her Vice Captain, Bev Ellender, in the specially decorated buggy which reflected both the theme of the day and the Captain’s particular interests. In Jill’s case there was absolutely no doubt that cats and ketchup would both be involved somehow!!

The Ladies then formed an arch with their golf clubs for the Jill to walk through where she was presented with a bouquet by incoming Ladies Vice Captain, Liz Kiddy.

The Ladies then played an 18-hole Stableford competition on the Gainsborough course with all four scores to count on holes 1-6; three scores on holes 7-12 and two scores on 13-18.

An individual competition was also played on the Back 9 so that our 9 Hole members could also join in the fun on the day.

Unfortunately, the rain fell quite heavily at times which dampened both bodies and spirits but the these were quickly revived by a glass of Pimms and other goodies served by Jill and her team of helpers at the half way hut!

Jamie Moul was on hand to take shots for the Ladies on the 3rd tee and was extremely close to getting a Hole in One with his first shot of the day, which could have proved very expensive!!

The Ladies were glad to pay a charity donation for the opportunity for either Men’s Captain, Matt Tunstall, or Harry Hibbert to take shots for them over the lake on the 10th. This proved to be a popular option!

Once everyone had dried off the Ladies met in the Gallery Restaurant where they were served a two course carvery meal. Bev Ellender and her team had done a grand job of decorating the room in keeping with the theme of the day.

After the meal they held a raffle and auction and £720 was raised for Jill’s Charity, Parkinson’s UK.

Jill then awarded prizes to the winners.
