Past Ladies Captain Corinne Jackson has received thanks from the three charities which benefited from fund raising during her year – when a total of £2,860 was donated.

Anna and Louis Brooks sent their thanks to all members of the Ladies Section after Corinne presented them with £1000 for the ‘Do it for Daisy’ campaign. It means so much that even nearly ten years on since Daisy’s death people still remember her and are raising money in her memory.

Currently, the money they have raised is being used to help fund a first-of-its-kind clinical trial at Great Ormond Street Hospital that gives hope of treatment for notoriously difficult to treat childhood cancer. Researchers at University College London (UCL) and GOSH hope to develop a new treatment for an aggressive type of brain tumour, using a patient’s own immune system to attack the cancer cells. This form of cancer currently has some of the worst outcomes for children.

Corinne also received thanks from Blood Cancer UK after presenting them with £930. They said it is an incredible donation and will certainly make a huge difference, this amount could fund a Clinical Trials Support Nurse for six days, improving access to clinical trials for people with blood cancer.

And thanks were also received from Target Ovarian Cancer in memory of Dawn Oliver who were presented with £930 by Corinne. They said: “Please extend our thanks to everyone involved. Your gift is helping to fund outstanding ovarian cancer research projects so we can find more effective Treatments”.
