Long standing Stoke by Nayland member Steve Clark has been named as the President Elect of the Essex Golf Union.
Steve, who sits on the Management Board of Stoke as our own immediate past President, has been involved with EGU for the last eight years.
He has held a number of posts with the County body, including most recently being Chairman of the Championship Committee and overseeing county competitions.
He is also on the committee which is working towards a merger between the EGU and the Essex Ladies County Golf Association. Coincidentally, Stoke is also honoured by this year by Elaine Davidson holding the ELCGA Captaincy.
At the EGU annual general meeting this week, Steve was named as President Elect, and all things being equal he will take over the Presidency in 2026 after the newly elected President Nick McEvoy finishes his two-year term.
Steve said: “It is an honour and a privilege to be named as the President Elect, doubly so for Stoke as Elaine also has her senior role in the County Ladies.
“When I take over as President it should coincide with the planned merger between the Men’s and Ladies County associations, although there will be a lot of work between now and then to make sure it happens smoothly”.
