Stoke Seniors foodbank donation
Members of our Seniors section have raised £1,600 as a Christmas gift for needy families.
The fundraising was part of the Seniors’ annual Yuletide Scramble team event, played in very wet conditions underfoot on the Gainsborough Course.
Traditionally, players used to bring along items of food to be collected and distributed to the Storehouse Foodbank in Sudbury. But, since Covid, this has been replaced by cash donations organised and collected by Seniors member Roger Davies.
Although only 46 players braved the conditions for the scramble, many others Also contributed, making a grand total of £1,600 which has been handed over by Roger to help make Christmas a bit better for some local families.
