Sunday 21st April saw the Stoke-by-Nayland ladies Bronze team travel down the A12 to Thorndon Park for their first match of the year. The Essex Bronze Shield trophy competition is played off scratch and is open to ladies with a handicap index of 18.5 and over.
The day was cold but the welcome was warm. The rain stayed off, the course was in good condition, and the matches were all very close. Thorndon Park ladies were very friendly as was the final result – a draw.
The team was Melissa Halfhide, Fran Chandler, Hilary Clairns, Clare Nixon and Lesley Hitchcock.
