Having been given a bye in the first round, Stoke travelled to Abridge GC for their second round match.
It’s always difficult to play these fixtures away from home, especially when the home club doesn’t give you a courtesy round beforehand to get a feel for the course.
Unfortunately a huge deluge of rain the previous day made the course very wet and soggy underfoot.
The early matches were very keenly fought, and with the final result in the balance it was down to the final two matches to decide the overall result.
Despite a gallant effort by both players SbN eventually lost the match 6-3.
