Our second-round match in the Jubilee Cup, saw a home tie against Harwich and Parkstone played on the Constable course.
The format of 6 singles and 3 pairs saw Stoke sharing the spoils in the singles with wins for Trevor Warren, Ian Thompson and Ian Ryder.
With Keith Hodgson and Nick Mayle winning the first of the pairs, it all came down to the last match but, despite a great fightback from the pairing of Steve Martin and Simon Hickey, it was not enough, eventually losing one down on the 18th

St George’s Day
Meanwhile, the annual St Georges Day competition was held on Saturday 20th April, with a field of 32 teams of four players, competing on the Gainsborough course.
Complimentary drinks from Men’s Captain Norman Davidson were served by Norman’s wife Elaine at the halfway hut and members kindly donated to the Captains charity, The St Helana Hospice.
The winning team with an excellent score of 124 points was Steve Crisp, James Kendrick, Jonathan Miller and James Dillard.
Second place went to Stephen Bradley, Daniel Camilleri, Daniel Bewg and Steve Hale with 119 points. Third were Tom Dean, Erica Dean, Mathew Northcott and Dean Phillips with 118 points. And fourth were Paul Ketley, Ben Wharton, Jamie Baxter and Jackson Crisp with a score of 116 points.
