Twelve mixed pairs took part in the annual President’s Prize competition on the Gainsborough Course, which also doubled as Stoke’s qualifier for the Ping sponsored England Golf Mixed 4BBB competition.

The scores were very close, with only 5 points separating the top 9 places.

The top 3 places went to

• Katie Clark and Sam Nixon 42pts
• Clare and David Nixon 41pts
• Lesley and Barry Hitchcock 40pts

Katie and Sam will be the Club’s representatives entered into the draw for the National Final to be held in Lincolnshire later in the year.

Club President, Peter Garnett presented Katie and Sam with his prize of engraved glasses.

In his presentation speech, Peter commented that the entry fee to the PING competition (and two other England Golf competitions) has been supported financially by the Management Board as it is felt important that the Club should be represented on the wider stage and that members have the opportunity to play in Regional and National rounds of these competitions.

This was the first 4BBB competition held at Stoke where individual scores can count towards Handicap and it will be interesting to see if any changes have happened as a result.
