Despite the miserable weather and very soggy conditions, 80 members took to the Gainsborough course for the annual St. Patrick’s Day mixed betterball competition.
Scoring conditions were very tough, with endless plugged balls and bobbly putts, however with an excellent score of 125 points from three out of four scoring, the team of Mark Baxter, John Partridge, Steve Tree and Colin Pottle took the honours.
Second on 120 points was the team of Dan Mills, Steve Mills, Mark Howells and Craig Williamson., and third on 117 points was the team of Jackson Crisp, Dan Whiting, Stuart Taylor and Harry Hibbert.
Guiness and other beverages, courtesy of the Captain, Norman Davidson, were dispensed by Alex Rich at the halfway hut.
There was a hearty Irish Stew on as the special of the day for players on their return to the clubhouse, where they were also entertained by roaming magician Jack Blackbourn.
