Following their convincing first match win against Fyn Valley, Ian Thompson’s team had to come from behind after losing the morning foursomes 2 – 4 against a very strong team from Colchester.
Played in ideal conditions on the Constable course, Thommo’s boys had it all to do in the afternoon singles. Early progress reports had the matches all very close, however as the afternoon progressed the Stoke boys claimed the upper hand and despite the tighter matches ebbing and flowing, it appeared that the Constable hills were taking their toll on the Colchester team and the home team took full advantage, with only the first match out in the afternoon going the distance.
There were some significant wins in the afternoon singles, leading to an early finish and an early trip to the bar for a well-deserved drink.
With the singles matches going to the Stoke team 7 ½ – 4 ½ the final score was a win 9 ½ – 8 ½ to Stoke by Nayland.
Many congratulations to Thommo and the boys and good luck in your next match away to Felixstowe on the 16th June
