A grand total of 20 past SbN Ladies Captains gathered at Newton Green golf club for their 2025 ‘away’ meeting.
Conditions were perfect, after the wind and rain over the last few days, for 15 of them to play their Stableford competition.
The winner, and recipient of the Chris Pickering Trophy, was Janet Hodge with 36 points. In 2nd place (on countback) with 34 points was Margaret Bentley.
Jill Pottle had the Best Front 9 score of 21 points and Catriona Chaplin had the Best Back 9 score of 17 points.
Bottles of wine donated by Stella Hammond and Roz Clements were awarded as Nearest The Pin prizes and these were secured by Jane Golding and Di Hitchcock. No measuring was required as no-one else actually got onto either of the greens with their tee shots!
It was lovely that five of our non-playing Past Captains also joined us for the meal which followed our competition.
Unfortunately, although the event was superbly organised by immediate Past Ladies Captain Stella Hammond, she was unable to attend in person as she recently underwent hip replacement surgery and is currently recovering at home. Get Well Soon, Stella, we all wish you a speedy recovery.
