The format of this competition is slightly different to the Essex Seniors Championship, in that five singles matches take place at home and five away.
Having originally struggled to put together a team, we were eventually able to field a decent side, however we came up against very strong opposition in Colne Valley.
The weather on the day was not inspiring with gusty, chilling winds and squalling rain at times.
The team from Colne were receiving shots in 8 matches, four at home and four away and they certainly made them count.
We had hoped for a strong performance at home, however, the home matches finished level at 2 ½ points each. Some lengthy putts from Colne making the difference.
The away legs were fairly even, but with Colne making good use of their local knowledge, they ran out 4-1 winners.
Thanks to the team players who made themselves available for this match.
Home: Trevore Brace, Tony Denmead, Jonathan Perry, Colin Pottle and Phil Hickley. Away: Mark Clark, Simon Oliphant, Ian McKay, Iain Gault and Phil Gowland.
