The much-delayed Beaujolais Brunch competition was played this week – but although the weather was kind, the underfoot conditions made it a tough task.
Some competitors found the lack of distance a problem, with the ball going nowhere on the wet ground. However, there were those who had no problems at all, with the big hitters still reaching the greens in regulation and their playing partners knocking putts in from all over.
After the golf was the traditional brunch with wine in the Gallery bar, followed by the presentation of prizes.
First place went again to a team containing Men’s Vice Captain Matt Tunstall (That’s four in a row now for Matt), together with Bev Ellender, Colin and Jill Pottle with a net score of 54 – 17 under par. And with their combined handicap of 11, it means their gross card for the day was a tremendous six under 65!
Second place went to Johnathan Mason, Simon Pushman and Guy Stevens on countback with 56.
Third place went to Shane Ravensdale, Nick Bainbridge, Michele Seamark and Anita Sparrow on countback with 56.
Fourth place went to Jackson Crisp, Dan Whiting, Sam Volk and Paul Ketley on 58.
